Psychosis: a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality.

Psychosis is when someone becomes out of touch with reality they will experence things that are not real and others will not experence but to the one experencing psychosis everything is very real. Psychosis can be delusions as talked about by Chas they can be negative or positive delusions. Many of the times Delusions come with hallucations auditory and visual. Although Hallucations do not have to have delusions attached.

If someone you know is experencing psychosis and is at risk to harming themselves or others go to our "Get Help" Section and call one of the crisis lines provided. Do not put yourself at risk or attempt to argue delusions get help.
